In this episode, we make our way from Honeymoon Harbor to Great Harbor Cay in the Berry Islands of the Bahamas. We claim our own private island (sort of), and we replace our lazy lazy jack lines. Then we have a boat visit from the island medical staff to fix Adrienne's wrenched back muscles. Jeff got to break in our new Zizzo folding bikes as he explored the island while Adrienne was flat on her back for a week.
We crossed the Gulf Stream from Ft. Lauderdale to Bimini, Bahamas on our Leopard 45 sailing catamaran. The trip was easy and almost uneventful, until we just about, literally, ran into some friends of ours, SV Oliluki, at the entrance to the Bimini Channel. We attended our first sand bar beach party, made too many Margaritas, and got up close and personal with some sharks and stingrays. And lots of awesome new music from Damon Fowler! Stay tuned at the end for that.
We made it to Ft. Lauderdale for some last minute boat work before heading out to the Bahamas. During our stay, we avoided some marine police, and Adrienne drove us out of Just Catamarans. And that marina is scary tight!
After years of planning, we finally left the dock and began our "forever trip."
We spent a lot of time figuring out the best way for us to convert our charter boat to our home. We're very happy with the decisions we made and are excited to show them to you.
The plan is to go around the world on our Leopard 45. We all know plans change, but that's where we are right now. In this video, we start getting the boat ready.
We drag anchor and ride out a 45 mph blow!
Watch us turn the boat around and high-tail it back to Longboat Key.
