Pink Sparkly Dust in the Sky

The San Juan Islands – No, they’re not in Puerto Rico. They’re just NW of Seattle.

We became buds with Bill and Kris during Cruisers University at the Annapolis Boat Show last October. They just moved onto their Caliber 47 and began their retired lives living off the grid. This was their shakedown cruise. New rigging, new sailes, new washing machine (gotta have that), new blankets, what more could you ask for? Good weather? Well, we brought that. The sun is shining, it’s 72F during the day (55F at night), and the scenery is breathtaking.

Let’s talk again about the temperature. 55F at night! Can you stand it? They gave us 4 blankets and a space heater. Ditch the heater, open the hatch a crack and snuggle under the blankets. So much for the hot flashes that have been plaguing me for the last 7 years!

We’ve been anchoring next to cliffs. Another thing we certainly don’t get in FL. And we can see Neowise with our naked eyes! With very little light pollution to muck up the sky, the stars glistened like diamonds in the sky. Neowise shone like pink, sparkly dust. It’s amazing! And once we remembered there were binoculars on board, it really kicked some butt.

I could get used to this.
