Lavender Fields Forever

We spent two days at the Rosario Resort on Orcas Island hiking and driving to see the small villages and quaint downtown. The lavender fields are everywhere. I never knew there were two kinds of lavender – French and English. The French kind is fragrant. They use it for perfumes, soaps, lotions, etc. The English kind is edible. I would have thought it would be the other way around. The English aren’t exactly know for their culinary skills.

Here on the grounds of the resort, the lavender grows everywhere. It’s beautiful and smells so good! One of the groundskeepers took a liking to Kris and gave us a few bunches of the English kind. I smell lavender ice cream in our future!
