Six Days Living Aboard Wind Therapy
Set sail on a hands-on cruising adventure aboard Wind Therapy, a luxurious sailing catamaran based in beautiful St. Petersburg, Florida. This immersive six-day experience is designed for aspiring cruisers ready to learn how to truly live aboard and make the most of their cruising lifestyle.
You’ll learn under the guidance of Captain Jeff and Admiral Adrienne, seasoned mariners with over 20,000 nautical miles sailed in the past six years — bringing real-world knowledge, practical insight, and a passion for adventure to every lesson.
The Experience
- Six days, five nights living aboard Wind Therapy – Destinations are weather permitting
- One or two couples maximum for personalized instruction and full attention
- ASA certification preferred (This is not a “Learn to Sail” course, though you’ll do plenty of sailing!)
- Focused on hands-on cruising skills, lifestyle, and confidence at sea
- Departing from The Harborage Marina, St. Petersburg, FL
This course is designed to help you maximize your cruising experience — from provisioning and anchoring to navigation, power management, and long-term voyage planning.
Typical Curriculum
Day 1 – Welcome Aboard at Noon – The Harborage Marina
Evening at the Dock
- Welcome orientation
- Provisioning and stowage
- Passage planning and weather routing
- Cooking in a small galley
Day 2 – Getting Underway
Destination: Longboat Key – Evening at anchor
- Safety at sea
- Sailing prep, motoring and maneuvering twin engines
- Electronics overview; chart plotter, autopilot, navigation, radar and anchoring apps
- VHF usage and radio etiquette
- Rules of the road
- Anchoring techniques
Day 3 – Systems and Power Management
Destination: Venice, FL – Evening at Crow’s Nest Marina
- Sailing and motoring practice
- Communications underway
- Power sources and energy management
- Monitoring systems and conserving resources
- Determining your boat’s power needs
Day 4 – Extended Cruising
Destination: Terra Ceia Bay – Evening at anchor
- Sailing and motoring refinement
- Dinghy care and maintenance
- Long-term cruising planning and destinations
- Crew roles and watchkeeping
- Night passage preparation and safety protocols
- Choosing toys and tenders for your cruising lifestyle
Day 5 – Return Passage
Sail to The Harborage Marina – Evening at the dock
- Docking techniques
- Boat maintenance and fueling
- Security options
- Insurance considerations
- Managing guests aboard
- Visiting foreign ports and customs considerations
Day 6 – Wrap-Up
Disembark at Noon
- Managing spare parts, laundry, and storage
