When we left for The Bahamas in 2021, I had no idea how hard it would be to not see my family for four months. Well, I found out. Family is everything. They make you happy, stressed out, feel loved, exhausted, and exhilarated all at the same time. Nothing else I know of does that, except a really great roller coaster. But those make me sick these days.
I told Jeff that from then on, we would have to see our family no less than every eight weeks. Either we fly home or we bring them to us. So, that’s what we did. We brought our daughter, her husband and their two kids to the Bahamas for a week-long visit. It was wonderful! I really missed my son, though. He opted to stay home and dog sit for them. (He’s not a huge fan of waves.)
We ended up staying in the Exumas a lot longer than we expected. But when you have guests on board, that’s where you want to go, right? The Land and Sea Park is pristine, the beaches are gorgeous and the snorkeling is incredible. Unfortunately the wind didn’t cooperate while we were there. We were stuck in Warderick Wells for four days!
Wait. Did I just say we were STUCK in Warderick Wells? I did. I’m not sure that’s really a fair statement. Warderick Wells is one of the most beautiful places on the planet, in my opinion. So, is being stuck in paradise with friends, family, good food, plenty of water, and lots of sunshine really a bad thing?
We felt bad because we couldn’t show them everything the Land and Sea Park had to offer. But playing Dominoes, hiking the island, snorkeling the reef, grilling steaks, and drinking champagne at noon wasn’t so bad. They had a great time, and that’s what counts.
